Poor People's Campaign

WHEN: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern on Monday, Sept. 14. 

WHAT: Moral Monday on Voting is Power Unleashed! with training by the best organizing and legal minds in the country, including Caitlin Swain of Forward Justice and Sherrilyn Ifill of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the co-chairs of the Poor People’s Campaign, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis. 

WHO: The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, with state coordinating committees in 43 states and 200 other civic, religious and social justice organizations, brings together poor and low-income who will learn about voter participation and protection and will take their knowledge to their families and communities. Joining the program will be: Erika Alexander, David Oyelowo, Mark Ruffalo, Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand, D.L. Hughley and Charlamagne tha God. In addition, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden will speak to the group. President Trump was invited to speak but hasn’t responded.

WHY: Poor and low-income people make up 25% of the electorate. Participants will learn how to overcome the voter suppression that hurts people of color and poor whites as well.
