SUMMARY:**POSTPONED** Evanston IL--“We Cried Power” Screening
DESCRIPTION:We will reschedule when we can. \n\n\n\nWe all must do our part to slow the spread of this virus to protect\neach other\, especially the most vulnerable among us. We can do this by keeping\nourselves informed\, following best practices and setting a good example and so\,\nwe have decided to postpone this event. \n\n\n\nWe hope you will stay connected\, take care of yourself\, your\nloved ones and also\, those you don’t know but who are in need. \n\n\n\nWe are all in this together. \n\n\n\n“We Cried Power\,” a compelling documentary by filmmaker Dara Kell\, \ntells the story of a bold new social movement to end poverty in the \nUnited States. Inspired by Martin Luther King\, Jr. in 1968\, the original\n Poor People’s Campaign was Dr. King’s last great work. Today\, a revived\n Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is carrying \nforward this work demanding an end to poverty\, racism\, militarization \nand ecological devastation. \n\n\n\nThis remarkable sneak preview is an intimate account of a “season of \nresistance\,” told through the eyes of the mothers\, veterans\, preachers\, \nand students who are the voices and founding members of this new \n“fusion” movement. The film bears witness to the profound process by \nwhich those without power decide not to accept their powerlessness. \nInstead\, they claim – through protest\, dance\, song\, and poems\, through \ntestimony and tears – their birthright: to live decent lives in the \nUnited States of America. The full length documentary will be released \nin the spring. Trailer https://vimeo.com/383590763/b39d6b011f \n\n\n\nJoin us to learn us about this powerful movement\,\nand to find how you can TAKE ACTION \n\n\n\nRefreshments will be served.
