Please email your US Senator or tweet to increase awareness about this act which will increase mental health treatment in the judicial system and during reentry.

TO (YOUR SENATOR)

As a constituent, I am writing today to urge your support of the Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act of 2020 (S. 3312) by becoming a cosponsor. This bipartisan, bicameral bill calls for law enforcement agencies to partner with community behavioral health organizations to provide increased access to mental health treatment and crisis stabilization for incarcerated individuals and promote warm hand-offs to community-based care upon reentry.

Please support this crucial bill which will make significant strides to provide the mental health treatment and crisis stabilization supports that are needed in the justice system by becoming a cosponsor of the Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Act (S. 3312).

National Suicide Hotline Designation H.R. 4194/S. 2661:
This bill would designate 9-8-8 as the hotline number instead of the current 1-800-273 TALK (8255) – the idea being that 3 digits would be much easier to remember for individuals in crisis.

Please send this to your representative in Congress or send out tweets.

TO (YOUR REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS)

As a constituent, I am writing to ask you to help make 9-8-8 a reality. H.R. 4194/S. 2661 would designate 9-8-8 as the new National Suicide Hotline number – this change would make it easier for millions of Americans to access timely and effective crisis intervention services and receive lifesaving help. This bicameral, bipartisan legislation is urgently needed and could save lives. We cannot leave people struggling with mental illness and addiction behind at this time of crisis. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death for Americans, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated this crisis.
