RALLY to PASS SOCIAL JUSTICE LEGISLATION
Maryland State House (Annapolis)
See the event page!

Fri, Mar 18, All Day
Very few of the bills we supported are up for Committee vote.
Funding for Counsel in Renters Court (bill passed in 2021) will pass and may be funded through 2024.

Mon, Mar 21, All Day
Final day for bill Cross Over.
Right now updates on our supported bills come out every few hours. What if the bills do not pass one chamber by this date? The bills are dead.

Mon, Mar 21, Before 9AM
CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATORS ABOUT PASSING OUT THESE BILLS BEFORE THE CROSS OVER DEADLINE.
The easiest way for you to contact legislators is through this link to the Maryland Legislative Coalition. There’s a link to your legislators and a sample short message you can copy and paste into an email. Yes, you will have to add the name and number of bills into the text.

Here are the bills to support in your emails:
HB0008/SB27: Paid Family and Medical Leave (Time to Care Act)
This bill will be derailed by an amendment to study the plan. The plan has already been studied many times. Ask your Legislators to pass without amendments. Hopefully this will be voted on by the Senate before the deadline.

HB694: Financial Assistance—Medical Bill Reimbursement
Remember this MD hospital scam? During the pandemic, families were charged for medical care even though they should have been exempted. This bill will force hospitals to reimburse families who were fraudulently charged for hospital bills during the 2-year pandemic.

Mon, Mar 21, Before 9 AM
CONTACT YOUR SENATOR to VOTE FOR SB783 Constitutional Amendment—Environmental Rights Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee or Judicial Proceedings Committee
The proposed amendment will protect each person’s right to a healthful and sustainable environment.
The state, as trustee of Maryland’s natural resources, shall conserve, protect, and enhance them for current and future generations. Use this link to contact your Senator.
