Thank you! We love you, Sr. Simone Campbell: “But if there is one thing Campbell is unequivocally proud of during her tenure at Network, it’s her organization’s role in the passage of the Affordable Care Act. Campbell and Network were part of a large group of U.S. Catholic nuns who voiced support for the health care bill before its passage — a move in direct defiance of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, which came out against the bill.” ...

“The best way to honor women this International Women’s Day is to raise the minimum wage to $15 immediately, expand health care, guarantee an adequate income for all, and pass policies that allow people to thrive not just barely survive.” -Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis ...
International Women’s Day: Women workers and Poor People’s Campaign demand $15
www.peoplesworld.org
The coronavirus pandemic and the economic depression it sparked have highlighted what women workers have known for a long time: The minimum wage is not a living wage. CEOs keep wages low while their own pay and corporate profits continue to skyrocket. The workers cant support grocers and retailers, they are closing out of business. That is because of the minimum wage failing to keep up with inflation.
That's correct 👌
Needed changes for a better America: 1)Create an adjustable federal minimum wage that’s permanently tied to the cost of living. Make the wage specific to each city and county and adjust it yearly so that it’s high enough that any full time employee can live off it without any external assistance. 2)Mandate that all employers pay every employee nothing less than the federal minimum wage and, pay them for every hour worked. 3)Create an economic system that’s designed to “permanently eliminate poverty” by subdividing it into “Wants” and “Needs”. Anything in the “Wants” category can keep the existing system that allows the marketplace to set the price. Anything in the “Needs” category must be sold on a sliding scale basis according to what someone’s income is compared to the federal minimum wage which needs to be permanently tied to the cost of living specific to the city or county of residence and, restricted by the actual cost to import, produce, store, distribute, sell. 4)Eliminate the tactics designed to kill or stall a Bill and, the excuses to pass unrelated policies and, mandate that One Bill=One Goal. 5)Allow citizens that haven’t been elected, appointed or campaigning for any political position the right to vote on matters concerning federal governance, making their majority votes count as one half of the decision making process to ratify, amend or repeal. 6)Make it illegal for the government and the media to lie to or mislead the public. 7)Make a clean environment a matter of national security. Start today by making it illegal for anyone of any age to smoke or Vape anything anywhere! 8)BY FAR, THE BEST THING WE CAN DO IS TO TRANSITION AMERICA OUT OF ITS’ REPUBLIC AND INTO A DEMOCRACY!
Prophet
Power Elites do not care that $15 hourly is already a compromise and still not enough to thrive and survive. When will affluent white men ever see what a mess they have made and stop, just stop? Never. We must boot/vote them out. Fight voter suppression.
If we honor women we would increase the wage to $15., and provide assistance for low cost, quality childcare, and would provide Medicare for all, and would provide free short term training programs for women in renewable energy and training in all trades.
The original value of the minimum wage is $25/Hr in most Red Counties, and $50/Hr in most Blue ones. At $1,470, the average rent requires $36.75/Hr to not exceed 25% of income, as prescribed by financial accounting best practices. $15/Hr is still poverty level. 💚 #GreenEnter 💚

Rochester Poor People's Campaign on the main line..love. power and joy to all of our sisters in the struggle
We can seek all day but it must be moved.
Everybody has the right to live. The least our national and state legislators should approve for workers in America: $15/hour plus tips and benefits.
It is morally reprehensible that we have to fight for wages and benefits that honor the work and needs of people in this nation!
We must hold all elected officials accountable for wages that are not livable, not enough!
Policies that limit our lives and the livelihood of our local, national and global communities!
Banging pots and pans for low wage workers is not as honorable as increasing wages that are livable and comfortable to live and thrive!
Hard to celebrate with family and community are suffering!
We can say what's good, what's bad, what's nice and we don't need permission to say what we feel.
Go, Julia! You are a strong advocate for women's rights!
Much Love Rev. Letiah Frasier and the Kansas Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival family!🖤👊🏾🔥
Just called my Senator's office and wow- they were somewhat demeaning about the minimum wage and needs of businesses as more crucial.
Even if they raised it to 12 an hour that be good to but they dont wont us to make a disent wage
Nell Myhand, your voice and presence is powerful! Thanks for helping bring giants down and building community up!👊🏾🖤🔥
No one should have to work in those conditions
God bless all of you for all of the tremendous work you do!
Someone wrote “so u get tips” what is meant by that? Tips aren’t enough, may help but tips get taxed. $15 is not enough because $15 gets taxed. No one lives on the gross.
Thank you Mother/Sister Maureen Michigan Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival!👊🏾🔥

“Today, we must continue to push for passage of a new, landmark Voting Rights Act, so that our nation will not have to keep fighting the same battles that my great-aunt, others, and now myself continue to challenge.” -Elliott Smith, national social justice organizer for Repairers of the Breach & the #PoorPeoplesCampaign ...
On the anniversary of Selma we are sadly reminded: voting rights are still imperiled | Elliott Smith

Fifty-six years ago, my great-aunt, Amelia Boynton, was beaten senseless while marching. Let’s honor her by protecting voting todayEVERYONE SHOULD WORK TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY!!!
One thing to keep in mind when you see today's PPC promote voting: There isn't a single candidate/politician today who stands up to restore basic human rights for those left jobless (and many who can't work). The poor.
amen
Not just "still" imperiled. Newly and viciously MORE imperiled.
Georgia just outlawed handing out pizza to folks waiting in line to vote. Why is that, and why are those waiting many HOURS in line to vote mostly POC? We still have a long way to go!! C'mon arc of history--get busy bending!!! :-(
Today, Julia Kennedy presented during the Moral Monday Event. She talked about supporting the minimum wage increase to $15 per hour. Also, she talked about women of color and women with disabilities to honor International Women’s Day.
“I refuse to celebrate International Women’s Day in a country whose policies make it clear that it rather I’d be dead then enact policies that celebrate my womanhood” 🔥🔥🔥
