Poor People's Campaign

Mobilize, Organize, Register, and Educate People for a Movement That Votes!

The 140 million poor and low-income people are the key to changing the political calculus in this country. That’s why the Poor People’s Campaign has launched a mass organizing project: We Must Do M.O.R.E. (Mobilizing, Organizing, Registering, Educating People for a Movement That Votes).

From the Carolinas to California, Mississippi to Maine, Kansas to Kentucky, the Bronx to the Border, Appalachian hollers to Apache sacred lands, people are coming together to organize our moral outrage against systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the false moral narrative of religious nationalism into a powerful moral fusion movement that votes!

We believe that if the rejected millions — those without health insurance, without living wages, without clean water, without voting protections — unite, we can build a new electorate to organize and vote for a moral agenda to transform our nation. Are you with us?

Organizations, Take the M.O.R.E. Prophetic Pledge

The Prophetic Pledge is a call for at least 1000 faith and community organizations to come together and pledge to each turnout 1000 people to vote. These organizations will identify a team of people to be trained as M.O.R.E. Organizers. Building a new electorate will require a mass wave of political participation. Faith and community organizations that sign on to the Prophetic Pledge are signing on to help build a movement that votes with the power we need to hold our elected officials accountable to the policy agenda that we are demanding. Click below to take the Prophetic Pledge:

The Poor People’s Campaign is non-partisan but deeply political. This fall, we’re demonstrating the power of poor and low-income people to shape the results and mandates of elections. For years we’ve demanded nothing less than a reconstruction of society around the needs of the poor and dispossessed. To make that possible now, we must bring the agenda of the poor front and center in this election cycle and beyond.

Voting is power unleashed!

“The Census is more than just counting bodies.”

Every 10 years our country must count its residents. This count tells us not only how many people we now have in the United States, but also what race they are, their ethnicity, their gender, where they live, and more. This data is then used by every single facet of American life for years to come. It determines where we vote, what schools our children go to, and other matters like funding . . . the Census is more than just counting bodies.
